What fruit am I? Can you say?

As a journal entry, write down which fruit you think it is and prove your answer with words that are used in the poem. Also in a few sentences tell me if you like or dislike this fruit and why?

Math- Learning about Polygons

Our grade two class have been learning about polygons in math. Polygons are described as closed shapes with only straight sides. Polygons have different names depending on the number of sides they have. Encourage your child to talk about the number of sides each polygon has on the examples provided on your top left corner of this message.

Math Assignment on Symmetry

In grade two, we continue to learn about symmetry. As part of your math homework you are asked to look for eight things that are symmetrical then draw and label them in your math homework. Remember to draw the lines of symmetry on every thing that you use!

This assignment is due on Friday May 7, 2010.

Things to Do this Easter Weekend in Toronto

Hooray!! It's a long weekend with nice weather on the way and plenty of fun things to do. Friday is a holiday, but many Toronto attractions are still open, like the ROM and the Ontario Science Center, so take advantage of the day off and explore what's new. Easter Sunday is the main event and there are egg hunts, activities and more happening all over the city. Find eggs and eat them too this weekend.

I have included some information about what you will find in each website provided.

In Math Playground, math concepts are taught through video games, word problems, and puzzles.
ABCya, is a new way for elementary students to learn through educational games and activities. The activities are modeled from primary grade lessons and enhanced to provide an interactive way to learn.
Math Cats encourages a playful exploration and a better understanding of mathematics. The Math Cats make math fun through a whole range of exercises that use colorful illustrations to teach sophisticated concepts. Children have fun with fractions, place values, story problems and much more.
Math is Fun is aimed at basic math skills. However you can find all kinds of activities ranging from simple to more complex. This site also has many K-12 math concepts explained in easy language, plus puzzles, games and worksheets.

In Aunty Math, it presents math challenges to help learners become better problem solvers.

Planet Science is a great place to find games, experiments, and news.
